It’s Kaelyn@ Kaelyn’s Life and Stuffed Stories here today to share some fun ideas on how to do a collab with another blogger!

Some of y’all may or may not know this, but I have recently just came back from a blogging hiatus so,if you haven’t seen me as much posting on here or being active in the comments/likes, that is why. ๐Ÿ˜€

Although, I am super glad to be back and to get to talk with you all today! I always love reading y’all’s comments and feedback. ๐Ÿ˜€

So.. without further ado, let’s get started! ๐Ÿ™‚

When I say “collab”, I mean doing a post where you and another blogger work together on it. This can be done however in many different and creative ways.

Doing a collab is actually quite simple, all it takes is approaching a blogging friend (and they don’t even have to be a blogger! they could be a sibling, friend, etc.) or that they approach you. Although, you always want to make sure that you can contact each other in some form to talk. It can be done about either via email (personal or blogging email), Google Hangouts, Instagram DM’s, Pintrest messaging, etc!

If you don’t know them personally, I would not give out your phone number for internet safety reasons, although that is up to you. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

However, I have done GroupMe with bloggers before, but I was not the only person in the chat, which made me feel safer since it wasn’t a one-on-one convo using my personal phone number.

And that is about all it takes when doing communication and getting it started! ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh! And a collab does not just have to have 2 people, it can have 3, 4, or more if you would like! I would recommend not doing more than 4 because then it could get a bit confusing after that, format wise.

Now, you just need a topic! And there are like, TONS of different ideas out there and I will explain a few that I have done or seen, but feel free to do something that is not listed here! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Interview/Question Collab (a majority of all collabs)

This is one of the most popular collabs that I have seen out there and that is to just simply ask questions about each other! It can be one an assortment of things or it can be like on one topic.. I have done like summer question collabs and even a COVID-19 collab. I have even done a couple on one of my fav book series, Keeper of the Lost Cites by Shannon Messanger.

Quick point! Be sure to ask the same amount of questions( i recommend between 10-12 questions, give or take) and decide if y’all will answer the same questions or each of you answer different questions that the other asks.

Playlist/Music Collab

A playlist or music collab is always fun, because who doesn’t like music?

There are many ways to do music collabs! You could just ask questions about music you like, do questions just over one musical genre, or you could swap playlists!

I have seen people who give each other like 10 songs to listen to and they say what they like or dislike about the song, kind of like a mini-review! ๐Ÿ˜€

Fashion Collab

Talking about clothes, hair, makeup, shoes, nails, you name it! Fashion collabs can be lots of fun.

I have done a collab before where my blogging friend and I swapped fashion tips from clothes to makeup. It was fun to see the input that they had and offered. ๐Ÿ˜€

Or you could do like outfit inspo’s and talk about clothing aesthetics!

Story Collab

I have not done this before, but I have seen this collab idea and it sounds really fun!

It is where you each have the same few words or a prompt and you both write a short story or poem from it.

Or one person starts the story and the other person does the ending!

Lots of fun ideas out there!

Never Have I Ever Collab

These collabs are a blast!!! It’s just playing the game Never Have I Ever and you say things like…

Never have I ever eaten a bug.

Although, if you have eaten a bug before you would say that you have and maybe when you did(or what bug). Or if you haven’t then great, say that and then maybe say why you would or would not want to.

And yes, people, I have eaten a bug before, although it was a fried meelworm… , but it tasted gross in my opinion. I wouldn’t recommend it, but to each their own taste buds! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜›

When formatting a collab, there are a few things you can do. You can have it where you each post on your blog, but you both post both of y’all’s parts of the collab.

Or.. you can have it where your friend posts your part or questions of the collab on their blog and then you post their part of it on your blog.

Overall though, these are just ideas! My hope is that this post helps you to find some guidance on how to do collabs if you are new to it, or for it to be a refresher if you have done them, and to inspire you to do one with your blogging buddy.

There are some many ideas out there that you can do from travelling, books, doing assumptions about each other, sports, flowers, etc! You can find a common interest you both have and go from there, or you can ask fun or even random questions!

Now don’t ever ask TOO personal of a question such as addresses, phone numbers, their deepest secret, etc. If you ask a question and for some reason they say that they don’t feel comfortable sharing, such as you asked their siblings ages, or what not, and they may say the would rather not due to internet safety, etc.

Respect that and ask a different question, with honor and kindness.

I hope that these prompts and ideas help inspire you to maybe try some of these. You won’t regret it!

In the comments- I would love to hear if you all have ever done a collab. If so, what collabs have you done before and what ideas do you want to try? Or if you haven’t, do you want to try collabs now? If so, what ideas do you have?

And random question!! Fantasy or sci-fi?

Well, that’s all that I have for you all today at Living the Blogging Life!!

See you all next time!

  1. Grammar is your friend!

Yess, I know grammar is not always the most fun thing to think about it, but when we do it makes our writing clearer and it makes it more enjoyable to read. We don’t always seem to notice grammar until it is needed. However, grammar can be flexible when blogging.

If you prefer to write all lowercase, you can! ๐Ÿ˜€ And if you are doing poetry, the rules are even more flexible.

Although, I can attest to this that I don’t always have the best grammar. A few typos here and there, a period missing is not the end of the world, but having your grammar as clean and concise as you can really helps to get your point across better! ๐Ÿ˜€

Grammar makes things enjoyable to read and helps to eliminate confusion. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. How to Get Post Ideas

Post ideas.. You got your blog set up, you have your grammar reviewed, and now you sit down at your laptop, stretch a bit.. and then..

nothing.. nothing comes to mind! Blogger’s block.. we have probably all had it at some point to some degree… Figuring out what to write can be tricky.. however, you can get ideas by some of the most simple things.. such as a clock on the wall.. You could write a poem about it, if you wanted too, and if it fit with your blog! ๐Ÿ˜€ I talk more about theme in my first post in this series. ๐Ÿ˜‰

No matter what your blog is about, these are the top three tips I have to get ideas.

  • Write what you love.
  • Write what you know.
  • Write something new.

When we write what we love, our heart gets put into it, and that’s what makes words come to life! Putting your heart into it and letting the story unfold. Story can be anything from photography to a cookie recipe, but writing what you love is a great place to start. If you love video games, write about that! If you love holidays, do a post every day about an odd holiday. BE CREATIVE! Blogging is one of the best ways I know to express creativity.

Writing what we know! ๐Ÿ˜€ If you have wide knowledge of random facts about lizards and snakes, write about it! ๐Ÿ˜€ I bet you someone out there will find it interesting! ๐Ÿ˜€ At least, I would find it interesting.. lol. Or if you sew dolls, share about how you make them and your tips on doing it. Learning and sharing knowledge is a great way to get a blog post set up and to help others.

Write something new! Make something up! I am not saying to gossip or sugar-coat facts, but… to write a short story based on a dream you had ( i have done this.. it’s kind of fun.. :P) or.. make a NEW way of doing makeup or make you own lip balm tutorial. Try something you have never done before!

3. Consistency.

Post planning is actually super helpful and it also let’s your faithful readers in on your train of thought so they can look forward to what is to come! ๐Ÿ˜€ I like it when bloggers share what’s coming. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Or sharing that there is a surprise is coming is fun too. ๐Ÿ™‚

For example, you can do posts on your blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays and leave Friday as a day to read your friend’s posts. Anyways, I get how hard that can be. I so get having a busy life!

To be honest, I haven’t been posting as much as I have wanted to on my blogs so, I am still working on this too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

4. The Blogger’s Community!

YEEESSS! Wow, I am so so thankful for my blogging community. If you are just now starting a blog or have been for years, getting into the community is not only fun, but it gets your blog out there. On WordPress, there is a handy dandy feature called the search bar in your reader where you can search up blogs. If you like Christian blogs, search up that or if you like stuffed animals, do that! ๐Ÿ˜€

See who they follow, chat in the comments, and get to know bloggers who are friends and get to become friends with them yourself.

Follow, like, comment, and have fun! ๐Ÿ˜€ Having done this on blogs, and finding about other people’s blogs on other blogs, and so on, I have been able to find SO SO MANY incredible blogging friends. however use wisdom and internet safety when doing this. Look for safe, kind, and friendly blogs and if you have concerns, asking your parents or guardians for help is a good idea, as you are getting another set of eyes. (if you are under the age of 18 I would recommend this ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). Or even if you are not, you can do this too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Having people involved such as a trusted friend, is good to so they can have your back.

That’s all for today’s post! I hoped you enjoyed part two of this series. ๐Ÿ™‚ I know I sure did. ๐Ÿ˜€ In the comments, I would love to hear your thoughts on this post, what tips you would give to a new blogger, or if you are a new blogger WAY TO GO! HOPE YOU ARE HAVING FUN! ๐Ÿ˜€ Hope these helped and… random question, what’s your favorite Christmas movie?! I would LOVE to hear y’all’s answers. Mine are White Christmas and the new animated Grinch. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time!!

This is your girlie, Kaelyn@ Kaelyn’s Life and Stuffed Stories!! I am so excited to be here today for my first OFFICIAL post here at Living the Blogging Life!!

I hope you all have enjoyed all of the incredible content that the LTBL team has worked so hard to get put out and up on here. So.. an huge-round of applause for the whole team!! ๐Ÿ˜€ You all are amazing!!

Although, I imagine most of you have been blogging for awhile or at least familiar with the topic. ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, for those of you that have looked into starting your very own blog and don’t know where to start, this is the post for you! ๐Ÿ˜€

So, you have seen blogs and you have thought why not start your own. You look around the web to find a good place to start and finally a blog set-up.

You may be wondering what to do for a name, design, etc.

There is a lot that may come to your mind, but don’t be overwhelmed, my friend. Blogging will be worth it! ๐Ÿ˜€

1.Finding a site to start your blog.

I highly recommend using WordPress for your blog. Not only is it SUPER easy to use, but you don’t have to get the payed option to get a fun blog set-up. ๐Ÿ™‚ Just log in and they will take you through the basics.

2. The Name/Tag Line

The name and the tag underneath it are normally one of the first things that people will see. Most of the time when you blog, you are hoping to get readers.

First off, do you want your blog to have a theme? Such as a lifestyle blog, books, stuffed animals, music, rock climbing, cooking, etc. If so, which one do you want? That will normally help with the name.

Do a name that you LOVE! ๐Ÿ˜€ If you love Susan’s Sewing and you want a crafts blog, GO FOR IT!! ๐Ÿ˜€

What matters is that your name reflects who YOU are! ๐Ÿ˜€ Don’t try to be someone you are not. And your blog can be about anything and anything if you want. ๐Ÿ˜€

Your tag line does not have to be something you say every time, but you can! For example, my lifestyle blog, Kaelyn’s Life, has the tag line, A Life Full of Joy and Worship for Jesus Christ.

Your tag is like the theme of your blog!

3. Pages

When it comes to the different pages on your blog almost always put an about you page. A little bio about yourself and your blog is a great start. Maybe add a photo of you, if you are comfortable with that.

A home page is another important page. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s the face of your blog. It can be like a little intro to the blog or it can be a page of your posts, or you can make a different page for your blog feed.

Blog buttons page! Something fun to do is swap blog buttons with other bloggers. You can look at our blog button page here for an example. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜€ A blog button is kind of like the logo of your blog and matches the design of your blog. This leads me to my next point.

4. Blog Design

Blog design is a key point. Before you start to worry about graphic designing it all yourself, we are here to help!

We have an incredible design team here at LTBL! They are here to help with any design problem or issues that you may have. And it is all FREE!! ๐Ÿ˜€ The only thing that they ask is that you display the image below on your blog, giving them credit.

From basic graphics and a full blog makeover! ๐Ÿ˜€ Just fill out the contact form and they can give you the blog design of your dreams!

Check it out here! You will not regret going to their page! ๐Ÿ˜€

And.. Canva is another awesome website to use for graphic designs, without having to do the paid plan. It’s a great place to learn, grow, and try out graphic designing for yourself. Check it out here!

Those are all of the tips that I have for you today in my Back to the Blogging Basics post! ๐Ÿ™‚

In the comments, if you have any questions about blogging, about this post, and of course, what is your favorite Disney move (bcz I am curious ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). Also, if there is anything that you would like us to post about, just let us know!
